The US media industry as we know it is in crisis. With both subscriptions and advertising revenue plummeting, traditional news outlets are slashing budgets and terminating reporting staff. A free and fair media is the backbone of democracy and has long been critical both in knowledge sharing and advocacy—indirectly or directly mobilizing for social change. The crisis, alternately, can be seen as a momentous opportunity.

The ability to reach and engage people is fundamental to the success of any endeavor. This is especially important and challenging for socially-oriented organizations and causes where the target audience is asked to devote their money, time, and energy in exchange for often intangible benefits. Our panel examines the unique appeal, challenges and strategies of building and sustaining a brand for social good.
